PSYCHOTHERAPHY

I am a pragmatic psychotherapist with extensive behavioral health and business experience and therefore bring a unique, multi-faceted perspective to the psychotherapy engagement. This perspective informs my position that in order to achieve positive results, patients require SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) goals supported by an intentional, structured process. I often say to my patients that "a great process provides the best chance for great results.”

My role throughout the psychoherapy process is to serve as both a captain and teammate, guiding patients to identify pressing problems, establish clear goals and developing positive habits aligned with desired growth. I work alongside patients to identify and remove barriers to growth while encouraging their active participation in the therapeutic process, both in and outside of sessions. A critical aspect of my captain’s role is asking penetrating, throught provoking questions that encourage critical thinking, self-reflection and greater personal insight. As part of my leadership role, I offer sounding board with sounding board grounded in sound judgement, keen insight/observations and a safe environment. The therapeutic relationship requires commitment, focus, flexibility and perseverence from both partners.

A patient’s progress is often determined by the amount of effort the patient dedicates towards homework outside of the session. Homework assignments may include tailored reading recommendations and strategies to practice. The more time a patient puts into the homework, the better chance goals will be realized.

Employing an integrative approach, I treat a wide range of mental health concerns, addictive behaviors and relationship struggles. More specifically, these problems include mood disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, phobias, OCD, ADD/ADHD, trauma, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling, porn addiction, interpersonal/intimacy problems and comorbid behavioral health and medical conditions.  I tailor treatment for every patient drawing from the following treatment modalites: Cognitive Behavioral TherapySolution Focused Brief Therapy, Self-psychologyBowen Family Systems Theory, Supportive TherapyMindfulnessPositive Psychology, and Neurolinguistic Programming. The demographic population that I serve includes adults ages 18 - 85, teenagers 16+, families and couples.
